Our founder, Caroline Mundell, attended the 2019 Canadian National Masters Olympic Weightlifting Championships on April 28th in London, Ontario. Caroline was competing in the 59kg, 35 to 39 age group, and represented not only Function Weightlifting Club that runs out of Port Coquitlam CrossFit, but also the province of British Columbia. The event was organized by the Canadian Masters Weightlifting Association, and brought together the best Masters division weightlifters from across Canada.
Fresh off of a strong competition season last year, our very own Caroline Mundell is currently the 3-time Provincial Masters Champion and is ranked as the top Female Masters Best Lifter in BC, holding all provincial records in the 59kg women’s Weight Class! Caroline, along with Janella Griffiths, Cathy Hambly, Paaras Kaur and Amanda Whiting from the BC Weight Lifting womens team set out to beat more records.
Notable Weightlifting Wins for British Columbia
- Caroline Mundell – GOLD in the 35-59 Age Group 59kg Weight Class (breaking the category’s Clean and Jerk BC Masters Record by 3kg)
- Cathy Hambly – GOLD in the 40-45 Age Group 81kg Weight Class
- Janella Griffiths – GOLD in the 45-49 Age Group 49kg Weight Class
