The global fitness race phenomenon HYROX has officially announced its 2026/27 North American race calendar, and once again Canada will play a major role in the series with events scheduled in Toronto and Vancouver.
For the growing community of HYROX athletes across the country, this announcement marks the start of a new season of preparation, competition, and personal achievement.
At Function Health Club, the HYROX movement has quickly become a cornerstone of our training community. Over the past year, dozens of Function members successfully trained and competed in HYROX races during the 2025 season, representing Vancouver on race floors across North America.
The results were incredible.
Members who had never raced before crossed their first HYROX finish line. Experienced athletes achieved personal bests. Teams formed, friendships deepened, and an entire community discovered just how powerful structured strength and conditioning training can be when applied to a real competitive challenge.
And now the next season begins..
What Makes HYROX Unique
HYROX has rapidly become one of the fastest-growing fitness competitions in the world, combining endurance, strength, and mental resilience in a format designed for everyday athletes.
Unlike many fitness competitions, HYROX is built around a standardized race format used at every event globally. Each race consists of:
- 8 x 1 km runs
- 8 functional workout stations
The stations include movements such as sled pushes, sled pulls, rowing, farmer carries, burpee broad jumps, lunges, and the iconic wall balls that bring athletes across the finish line.
Because the format is consistent worldwide, athletes can compare times globally and track progress year over year, creating a true international fitness race league.
But what truly sets HYROX apart is its accessibility.
You don’t have to be a professional athlete to compete. The race is designed so that any committed individual can train for it, whether competing solo, in doubles, or as part of a relay team.
That inclusive spirit is exactly why the HYROX community has exploded in cities around the world.
Canada’s Growing HYROX Community
Canada continues to emerge as a major hub for HYROX participation, and the return of races to Toronto and Vancouver reflects the strength of the community here.
Toronto will once again host one of the largest HYROX events in North America, drawing athletes from across Canada and the United States. Meanwhile, Vancouver continues to build a passionate local racing community eager to test their training on home soil.
For many athletes, these races represent the culmination of months of structured preparation.
And for first-time competitors, they offer an opportunity to experience something truly special: the electric atmosphere of thousands of athletes pushing through the same challenge together.
Function Health Club: Preparing Athletes for the HYROX Race Floor
At Function Health Club, we embraced HYROX training early, recognizing that the race format aligns perfectly with our philosophy of strength, conditioning, and long-term athletic development.
Throughout 2025, hundreds of Function members trained for HYROX events, following structured programs designed to develop the specific demands of the race:
- Aerobic endurance for repeated runs
- Functional strength for sled work and carries
- Muscular endurance for high-repetition stations
- Race strategy and pacing
For many participants, HYROX became more than just a race. It became a goal that reshaped their training habits, motivation, and consistency.
The race floor has a way of revealing what you’re capable of — and our members proved just how powerful a supportive training environment can be.
Looking Ahead to the 2026/27 Season
With the Toronto and Vancouver races now confirmed for the 2026/27 season, the next wave of HYROX athletes is already beginning their preparation.
Some will return to improve their race times.
Others will step onto the race floor for the very first time.
At Function Health Club, our HYROX training programs are designed to support both. Whether you are aiming for a personal best, racing with friends, or simply looking for a new challenge to focus your training, the HYROX season offers an incredible opportunity to push your limits.
The countdown to race day has begun.
And if the success of the 2025 season is any indication, the Function community will once again be ready to show up strong when the starting horn sounds.
