Losing body fat and keeping it off is still one of the most popular goals among people who workout. Countless articles and blogs have tackled this issue with some amazingly sophisticated information about how the physiology of the body metabolizes fat and how different training modalities affect this process. And all that information is great…but sometimes I fear it’s a little too complicated for many and flies right over their heads. In my experience as a personal trainer and educator I find the simpler the advice, the easier it is for people to grasp it and start implementing it into their own lives. I mean, there have been plenty of people who have successfully lost fat and kept it off without understanding concepts like Krebs cycle or pyruvate or the difference between beta oxidation and anaerobic glycolysis. You shouldn’t need a PhD in human physiology in order to get lean and stay lean.
I like this article from Testosterone Nation entitled 10 Sneaky Things Making You Fat because it gives very simple yet powerful advice on changes that can be made in your lifestyle to improve your body composition. Start incorporating these guidelines into your lifestyle and start reaping the rewards of that lean, healthy physique!
