I decided to pursue a career in health and fitness because sports have been a big part of my life. I am passionate about basketball and lifting weights and want to share my experiences! Applying my education in personal training and kinesiology to my own workout regime has made a huge difference in my own body and personal trainer, I want my clients to feel the same results! I truly believe, you don't always need to be exhausting yourself everyday to see results. My goal is, to educate, guide, and inspire people into living an active and healthy lifestyle.
NASM Personal Trainer
About Ryan JungMy name is Ryan Jung and I am a NASM certified personal trainer. I have trained a wide variety of different clients from all ages and function levels. I enjoy being versatile and personable to all I work with while always being open to learning more. I am motivated by being able to help find consistent progress with my clients in a sustainable timetable using my background in nutrition with my Nutritionist specialization through NASM as well as my Kinesiology education. My training philosophy I use on clients to rehabilitate their injuries, lose body fat, and gain muscle correctly is to address three aspects of mobility, stability, and strength of the client’s joints, muscles, and biomechanical movement patterns. My specialties are teaching functional training holistically, improving shoulder health, lower back health, and posture. Some styles of training I enjoy are bodybuilding, powerlifting, kettlebells, TRX bands, and bodyweight HIIT training. Don’t go through life, GROW through life.

BCRPA Personal Trainer, Pre and Post Natal Fitness Specialist, CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
About Norma SheaneHaving played soccer from a very young age, I quickly fell in love with a lifestyle revolving around health and fitness. Growing up I followed that passion and continued playing soccer at the university level. The leadership skills I developed along the way landed me the role of Team Captain in my final seasons. This allowed me to continue practicing my leadership skills, as well as giving me the opportunity to lead by example while still being a part of a team. Now having finished my university career I still play soccer however, I am now expanding my horizons in the realm of fitness and always looking to try new ways of being active. With my personal training clients I continue to let my leadership skills shine through but I also like to think of my clients and I as a team that works together to help them reach, and surpass, their fitness goals. We are in this together, so let's get moving!

About Jena FraserJena has been a Registered Massage Therapist and practicing Strength and Conditioning Coach since 2010. Her foundational values for rehabilitation stem from the Model of Regional Interdependence – “a concept that seemingly unrelated impairments in a remote anatomical region may contribute to, or be associated with, the patient’s primary complaint”. Integrating movement education with manual therapy, Jena enjoys creatively problem solving dysfunctions which limit performance in sport and activity. While attending university, Jena worked for 3 years as the Athletic Trainer for the UBC Women’s Ice Hockey team, where she realized her passion for manual therapy and high level sports conditioning. Since then, Jena has worked with Provincial Figure Skaters, National Women’s Soccer team, NHL players, and Senior PGA golfers. Jena earned a Bachelors Degree in Human Kinetics (Exercise Science stream) from the University of British Columbia in 2008, and continued on to complete a Diploma of Massage Therapy from the West Coast Collage of Massage Therapy in 2010. After graduation, Jena was licensed by the College of Massage Therapy of British Columbia (CMTBC) as a Registered Massage Therapist, and certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Jena places high value in continuing education and learning the subtleties of the human body and its mechanics. She has industriously attended courses for manual therapy, anatomy/physiology and strength conditioning. Currently, Jena is studying Osteopathy at the Canadian School of Osteopathy Manual Practice.
Registered Holistic Nutritionist
About Connie SearsHello! I’m so excited to be able to say that I’m the resident Holistic Nutritionist R.H.N. here at Function Health Club and wanted to start by saying that I LOVE food and physical activity! I was a ballerina from age 3 to 16 and played a variety of sports all through grade school, soccer being a favourite. I learned that eating properly was a key element in having enough energy to keep up with my active lifestyle. Plus, I love eating and eating delicious foods. My interest in nutrition really began due to being lactose intolerant and learning about how to avoid certain foods. I began reading labels from a young age and started to understand what goes into the foods we eat. That led to a life-long interest in eating the best way for my body’s needs. As an adult and a vegetarian, I started to see just how important food is in keeping us happy and healthy. That led me obtaining my certification, so I could gain more understanding and share the things I’d learned with others. I believe in eating for balance and giving your body what it needs to function at its best. I’m here to support you with any healthy goals you may have, using an informative and positive approach. I look forward to working with you!
