What is Foundations?
In a CrossFit gym, like Function Health Club, Foundations is an introductory program designed to teach newcomers the essential movements, techniques, and principles of CrossFit. This program focuses on proper form and safety for key exercises like squats, deadlifts, and Olympic lifts, while introducing participants to the structure of CrossFit workouts. Foundations ensures that all movements are scalable to individual fitness levels, emphasizes injury prevention, and provides a supportive environment to help you transition confidently into regular classes.
Never Done Crossfit Foundations?
Our Foundations program is designed for athletes of all fitness levels, whether you’re completely new to CrossFit or aiming to refine your technique. Over the course of 5 tailored sessions, you’ll learn fundamental CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting movements under the guidance of expert coaches. Each class concludes with a scalable workout, allowing you to apply and practice what you’ve learned. This structured approach ensures you build confidence, master proper form, and safely transition into regular CrossFit classes.

What is the Foundations program?
The Foundations program is an introductory series designed to teach the essential CrossFit movements, techniques, and principles. It ensures you learn proper form, understand workout structures, and feel confident transitioning into regular CrossFit classes.
Do I need to complete the Foundations program if I have CrossFit experience?
If you’ve already completed a Foundations program at another gym, let us know! We may waive the requirement after a short assessment to confirm your familiarity with the movements and safety standards.
Do I need to be in shape to start Foundations?
No! Foundations is designed for all fitness levels. Whether you’re new to fitness or getting back into it, our coaches will tailor the program to meet your needs.
What will I learn in the Foundations program?
You’ll learn proper form for foundational movements like squats, deadlifts, presses, and Olympic lifts, as well as CrossFit workout structures, scaling options, and injury prevention techniques.
Can I skip Foundations and jump straight into group classes?
Foundations is mandatory for most new members to ensure safety and proper technique. However, experienced CrossFitters may request an assessment to bypass it.
